An exciting week ahead for rodeo fans

The Canadian Finals Rodeo gets underway soon

The loud music is blaring as fans are at the edge of their seats as those metal gates open. It’s one of the most exciting times in rodeo right now in our City as we get ready to welcome cowboys and cowgirls from across Canada.

The Canadian Finals Rodeo is almost here and Red Deerians can’t wait to see the rodeo action unfold.

It’s a huge milestone for Red Deer as the City builds upon Edmonton’s proud 44 years of history.

Some of the leading competitors at the CFR include Scott Guethner from Provost in steer wrestling, Clay Elliot from Nanton in saddle bronc riding and Dusty Golden from Mayerthorpe in boys steer riding.

The upcoming rodeo is also good for the local economy, and is projected to inject $25 million. It’s also an opportunity to showcase Red Deer as it is now and what it hopes to become.

The event is expected to bring in over 50,000 people.

And it’s not just the amazing rodeo action. There will also be some superb performances throughout that people will get to enjoy at the cabaret in the Parkland Pavilion. Live music and entertainers include Jake Matthews, Meghan Patrick, Lindsay Ell and the band Emerson Drive, among others. The Rodeo will also feature a trade show, a kids zone and a daily pancake breakfast.

The rodeo runs Oct. 30th until Nov. 4th and it’s bound to be a great time. Good luck to all the competitors!
