Remands demand reform

SAFETY FIRST – Correctional officers protest in front of the Red Deer Remand Centre on Sunday following an incident at the newly opened Edmonton Remand Centre where two officers were suspended by management after they filed a report on unsafe working conditions. Correctional officers at the Calgary, Edmonton, and Red Deer Remand Centres, as well as those at the Calgary Young Offenders Centre are on strike until conditions improve and the institutions are currently being run by police officers.
