Police turn to public after liquor store staff member assaulted during incident

Red Deer RCMP are looking for public assistance to identify a man who robbed a liquor store on Monday after assaulting a staff member with bear spray.

RCMP responded to the robbery report at 1 p.m. on Jan. 30th after two men attempted to steal liquor from Bower Liquor, located at 2325 50th Ave. When the staff member attempted to stop them, he was sprayed with bear spray. The two suspects stole two bottles of alcohol and fled in a red SUV, which was reported stolen.

The suspect vehicle has been identified as a red 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe, Alberta license plate ERU 157. The driver’s side door may have sustained damage during the robbery.
