Man robbed while stopped at traffic light in Riverside Meadows

Red Deer RCMP arrest two suspects

Red Deer RCMP took two men into custody last week after an attempted personal robbery in the Riverside Meadows neighbourhood.

At 9 a.m. on June 16th, RCMP responded to a report of a disturbance in the area of 60th St. and 54th Ave. after two men attempted to rob a male victim while he was stopped in his vehicle at a red light on 60th St. RCMP located the suspects sitting on the grounds of the nearby school. One suspect surrendered immediately when placed under arrest; the second suspect resisted arrest, engaging in a struggle with police officers before being taken into custody. The suspect who resisted arrest was assessed on scene by City of Red Deer Emergency Services staff and cleared to be taken into custody. The robbery victim sustained a minor injury to his hand and the police officers were not injured during the arrest.

Izak Sararas, 20, has been charged with robbery, resisting/obstructing a peace officer, disobeying a court order.

Jessie James Auger, 26, has been charged with robbery.
