Fun on the rock wall!

I recently had the opportunity to rock climb for the very first time with my trainer Scott McDermott (owner of Best Body Fitness in Sylvan Lake).

Let me say first that it is much harder than it looks! But you shouldn’t let that deter you because it is actually a lot of fun.

For me, I was very intimidated by the wall, which is located in Scott’s gym.

I’m not scared of heights, so that wasn’t the issue. The issue for me was that I didn’t think it’s something I could do.

Well, I’m very happy and proud to say that I conquered that fear!

Not only was it physically challenging, but it was mentally challenging as well.

Physically rock climbing stimulates almost every single muscle in your body. You sure do feel it the next day and what a great feeling that is!

Mentally it was so challenging for me! Because I didn’t think I could do it in the first place, I had to overcome that insecurity.

There were times, don’t get me wrong, that I wanted to give up and quit. But Scott wouldn’t let me.

I swear that I sat on the most difficult part of the wall for about 20 minutes trying to make it to the top.

Scott’s determination and the realization that I wasn’t getting down the easiest way gave me the push to keep going.

And guess what? I made it!

It may not have been pretty, but I made it all the way to the top.

Rock climbing is something that I would definitely do again and you should try it too!

It’s so rewarding and it’s something that you’ll want to do again and again!
