Citizen’s tip leads Innisfail RCMP to arrest

Red Deer County man arrested, found to have key fob that belonged to a vehicle in the parking lot

On Dec.4th at approximately 11:45 a.m. Innisfail RCMP received a complaint of a male highly intoxicated at the Super 8 motel in Innisfail Alberta. RCMP arrived and found a highly intoxicated male inside the lounge area at the motel and the male was identified and found to be on conditions not to be in a licensed premise. The male was arrested and was found to have a lanyard with a key fob that belonged to a vehicle in the parking lot. This vehicle was confirmed stolen and a search of the vehicle revealed numerous suspected stolen items as well as weapons and illegal substances.

Kent Leigh Nichol, 39, of Red Deer County has been charged with five counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, four counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, seven counts of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, 21 counts of possession of a firearm/ammo contrary to prohibition, possession of stolen property over $5,000, six counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000, possession of break in tools, eight counts of breach of probation and four counts of possessing ID documents.
