Visual idea to educate about school buses

After reading your article in the Nov. 16, edition of the Express, I had this idea. Yellow school buses are themselves each a huge “Yield” sign because they are yellow. Vehicle drivers are already used to slowing, to alertly watching when they approach a Yield sign on our roadways.

The simple educational campaign would be to place signs on the back of the Yellow school buses that say “Be Alert and Yield to Any School Bus—Save Children!”

It would be wonderful if some safety transport people could donate enough funds to place billboards with such messages. I appreciate the dilemma facing Red Deer City council members — in the absence of a bylaw, I urge a comprehensive visual campaign.
