Local transit users are reminded that increases to transit fares will take effect Sept. 1. With the increase, single fare fees will cost users an additional five cents per ride.

The Transit Customer Service Centre at Sorensen Station offers ticket and pass sales, transit information and a lost and found. Tickets and passes may also be picked up at any Transit sales outlet.

Effective Sept. 1, single cash fares are adults (18 to 64 years) $2.30; youth (6 to 17 years) $2; students $2; seniors (65+ years) $2; children (5 and under, except in preschool groups) free and preschool groups $2 per two children.

The Go Pass (adult) is $63 and $55 for students/seniors.

The City of Red Deer increases transit rates annually in response to inflation and expenses. There are also some route changes effective this month, as each year the department reviews all routes to increase coverage, improve service and enhance efficiency.

Transit riders are advised to view new route and schedule information at webmap.reddeer.ca. New Ride Guides are also available at Transit Customer Service and on board all buses and School Overload brochures are also now available at Transit Customer Service.
