Police investigate shooting in Red Deer

Man shot in the back of the leg on 44th St. on Friday night

At 11:05 p.m. on March 17th, Red Deer RCMP responded to a 911 call that a male had been shot in the back of the leg. This occurred on 44th St. in Red Deer.

RCMP arrived shortly after. The 30-year-old male victim was transported to an area hospital with a non life-threatening gun shot wound, where he remains, in stable condition.

Witness reports indicate that after the shooting a male in a dark coloured SUV fled the area.

On March 18th in the early morning RCMP located and recovered two stolen SUVs. It is not known at this time if they are connected.

Red Deer RCMP and General Investigation Section are actively investigating this occurrence along with the Red Deer Forensic Identification Section.

The RCMP are seeking information from anyone who has any knowledge of this incident, or was in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious.
