Local BMX riders have great weekend

What a haul it was for the Red Deer BMX club.

More than 40 riders made the trek up to Edmonton this past weekend for the first big provincial race of the season.

Cody Pratt led the charge for the local BMX’ers, capturing four gold medals over the course of the two-day event, with Tim Pratt next in a line with a trio of golds.

Ty Redbear and Sarah Stahl grabbed two golds each, while Keith Warren snared three silvers.

Overall, Red Deer BMX won 14 golds, 14 silvers, and 9 bronze medals, but perhaps the most impressive performance of the weekend belonged to Jack Welikoklad.

The four-year-old won bronze in his first ever provincial race.

Other gold medal winners include Abbey Graalman and James Sekora, who each grabbed one gold and a silver, as well as Derry Vickery, who added to the medal count with one gold.

Riders Tyson Best, Jordin Riguidel and Justin Mainville each took home a pair of silvers, while Matthew Pidhirney snagged a silver and a bronze.

Halle Graham and Kaden Corrigan each won a silver medal, with Dean Best, Ryder Graham and Josh Snape chipping in with one bronze each.

Evan Stahl wrapped up the clubs medal haul of 37 with a couple of bronze medals.
