A Remembrance Day poem

Submitted by Kimberley Wright in the 18+ category

We wanted to thank you for all you have done

So we can all live free, run around and have fun

You gave up everything for those you do not know

And now you must lay in a long row

You had a future with so many plans

Traveling near and far to different lands

One day you would marry the sweet girl down the lane

The one you had kissed your last night in the rain

She waited for you night after night

The letter then came, oh it didn’t seem right

So young you were and such fun you would have had

You were always such a joyful lad

Every year we thank you for it all

Our freedom, our homes, for you took the fall

You were brave, strong and had so much love

Now you look over us all from up above
