A beautifully designed show home for a good cause

Last week I was assisting Falcon Homes with the staging of this year’s STARS Lottery Home and I must say it is a beauty! Everyone has a style that they crave and mine is old world glamour and I most definitely like things that are shiny. Someone once called me a magpie because I’m so attracted to shiny objects.

This home has everything to make my blood race and my eyes light up. I could tell you about the glossy, sexy black wood detail that adorns the master bedroom or about the glittery fireplace hearth and candy coated tile. Or should I entice you with the incredible larger than life wallpaper patterns that grace the formal dining room, master bedroom and main floor bathroom?

Take your time meandering through this lottery home; you don’t want to miss anything. It is easy to become distracted by the beautiful finishes and accessories in every room but I encourage you to take a very close look at the tile detail and also the draperies. The tile in every room is spectacular and completely unique, each space has its individual personality which winks and glimmers in its light. From the two main bathrooms with no natural light to the majestic ensuite which floods with daylight from its bay window you will see stunning tile choices which perfectly suit each space.

Often I feel with drapery there is nothing new under the sun – after seeing the work in this home I stand corrected. There are swags designed out of crystal beading instead of fabric and custom jeweled valances unlike anything I have ever seen. The grand two-storey stair case was waiting for its drapery when I left the home and I can’t wait to go back and see what they were doing with 15 ft pewter and white crystal drapery rods installed vertically. Even the bare rods running up and down the walls were spectacular; the draperies will be a showstopper if the rest of the drapery is an indicator.

The master bedroom is a space I could spend a great deal of time in. The wallpaper is a modern take on a damask print with black, silver and purple all weaving together in a massive modern pattern. The draperies are a flowing cream dotted with silver crystals which frame the turret style windows. The head and footboard are tufted silver velvet with a cream rose patterned bedspread that makes you want to grab a martini and a magazine and lounge in glamorous leisure for an afternoon.

One last gush about the kitchen and then you will have to go and see this home for yourself; it is worth the trip to Rafferty Court in Sylvan Lake to see this home. Centered on a multi-functional island/table/curio cabinet the centre island is glowing with a crystal infused quartz countertop. The centre cabinetry is glazed in a glossy black finish and the background cabinets are smooth and creamy toned. The fabulous finishes in this kitchen are too numerous to mention and the adjacent laundry room will entice you to wash clothes.
