Wetaskiwin RCMP investigate suspicious death

Teenager dies in hospital after disturbance at area home

Wetaskiwin, Alberta – Last night, at approximately 10:27 p.m., members of the Wetaskiwin RCMP Detachment responded to a disturbance at 48 Street and 53 Avenue wherein a teenaged male was found seriously injured and was later pronounced dead at the Wetaskiwin Hospital.

A short time later an adult male was located in front of the Wetaskiwin RCMP Detachment suffering from non-life threatening injuries and who was taken to Wetaskiwin Hospital for treatment where he remains in police custody.

The investigation is ongoing utilizing resources from the Wetaskiwin RCMP Detachment and the RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit (MCU). Police are not seeking any other persons in relation to this investigation and advise that there is not any danger to the public.
