Red Deer RCMP have charged the second of two men who assaulted a woman after she located them in her stolen car on Dec. 14th.

The suspect was identified through a series of unrelated investigations after he was arrested attempting to flee from a hit and run incident in a stolen truck on Dec. 20th; the stolen Ford F150 struck several parked vehicles in the Glendale neighbourhood, and the two male occupants then attempted to flee on foot.

RCMP officers contained the area and Police Dog Services located one of the suspects hiding in a residential yard on Northey Avenue.

At the time of his arrest, the suspect had a counterfeit Canadian $100 in his possession. Through the course of the investigation, RCMP determined the suspect was also a suspect in a gas and dash and assault on a staff person earlier the same day at a gas station in the East Hill area.

The suspect has further been identified as the second suspect in the vehicle theft and assault on a woman on Dec. 14th.

James Ronald Holt, 33, of Red Deer has been charged for the events of Dec. 20th including possession of stolen property over $5,000, possession of counterfeit money, assault and theft of fuel.

He faces further charges for the events of Dec. 14th which include theft of motor vehicle, careless use of a firearm, and possession of prohibited firearm with ammunition.

Also charged in the case is Aaron Frederick Brown, 32. He was arrested thanks to a tip from the public.

RCMP began looking for him after receiving a tip as to his identity, and located him on a separate file shortly after midnight on Dec. 29th, after a U-Haul truck fled police during an attempted traffic stop. The truck was located abandoned in the Pines neighbourhood shortly afterward; the suspect was located nearby on foot with assistance from Police Dog Services and was taken into custody without incident.

The subsequent RCMP investigation determined him to be the same suspect as in the vehicle theft and assault file from Dec. 14th.

Brown has been charged with theft of a car, careless use of a firearm and possession of restricted firearm with ammunition.

He further faces the following charges for the events of Dec. 29th including dangerous operation of motor vehicle, and operation of motor vehicle while being pursued by police.
