At approximately 9 a.m. on March 13th, the Penhold Fire Department responded to a multi vehicle accident on Hwy. 2A about 50m south of Hwy. 42.

"One vehicle (car) was blocking traffic in both directions and another vehicle (van) was partly in the west ditch," said Penhold Acting Lieutenant Josh Wilson.

The driver and lone occupant of a Grand AM travelling north lost control, and struck a south bound Honda Odossy.

Responding officers found the Grand AM was divided into two parts and its driver was pronounce deceased at the scene.

The driver and lone occupant of the Honda was transported by ambulance to the Red Deer Hospital with unknown injuries.

Wilson added the driver from the van was extricated and transported in serious but non-life threatening condition to Red Deer Regional Hospital.

”A third vehicle was in the ditch and the driver was treated at the scene and released."

Why. 2A remained closed until 12:30 p.m. There was one fatality on scene. Innisfail RCMP are investigating.
