Honda Red Deer has nabbed the top spot for Best New Car Dealer in the Express’ Best of Red Deer Awards.
“This makes me feel really excited knowing that our community has acknowledged the efforts that we try and do,” said Garry Skakun, general manager of Honda Red Deer. “It makes us feel proud to know that we’ve done a good job.”
Honda Red Deer has been a fixture in the city for 24 years.
They were originally located in north Red Deer but almost five years ago moved to the south side of the city, on the tail end of Gasoline Alley.
“Being on the south side of the city has been a benefit to us,” said Skakun. “A huge percentage of our customers actually find that the location is more convenient.”
Honda Red Deer carries a full line of vehicles which includes cars, trucks and SUVs.
“We’re very fortunate because we have one the most fuel efficient line ups in the industry,” said Skakun. “We also have some of the most highly rated vehicles in the industry.”
The Honda dealership, which employs 50 people, is 2,600 sq. ft. and boasts a bright and open showroom, a parts counter as well as service shop.
“We have a drive thru service,” said Skakun.
Skakun added the employees that work at Honda Red Deer are an important asset to the company.
“The associates that work here are a key part to our success,” he said. “We need good people to look after the customer’s properly – without them we wouldn’t be able to achieve these goals.”
Skakun added Red Deer is a great place to do business.
“It’s an aggressive, growing community,” he said.

The showroom is open Monday to Thursday 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
