Sims Furniture Ltd. is the best of its kind in the city.
They have been voted Best Furniture Store in the Red Deer Express’ Best of Red Deer Awards.
“It’s good to have this recognition,” said Tim Sinclair, president of Sims Furniture.
“We work hard to have the best selection and the best customer service.”
George Sinclair bought Sims Furniture from its previous owners, two auctioneers, in Red Deer in 1951.
In the late 1960’s and early 1970’s George branched out by opening new stores in Olds, Stettler and Camrose as well as having two stores in the city.
George eventually sold all the stores but one in Red Deer.
Today, Sims Furniture carries a wide range of furniture including sofas, lounge chairs, coffee and end tables, kitchen and dinette sets, bedroom furniture and artwork, among others.
“We carry the middle to upper end furniture,” said Tim. “We carry affordable furniture.”
With one of the largest showrooms in Alberta, Sims Furniture is 5,500 sq. ft.
The store also employs 64 people.
Tim added one of the unique features is that they offer an instant delivery service.
“We stock our inventory and have our own trucks so we can deliver immediately,” said Tim. “We still open the merchandise, blanket wrap and deliver it set up in a customer’s home. It’s a deluxe service.”
Sims Furniture also offers financing.
“We have a good financing plan available for our customers,” said Tim.
He added he enjoys doing business in Red Deer.
“The economy is really good,” he said. “We have a very buoyant economy and there aren’t many better places to be in business.”
Sims Furniture is located at 2811 Bremner Ave.
Their hours of operation are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
They are open extended hours on Thursday and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
