OPINION Story:  6

Thieves of democracy

12/31/08

Did anyone in Alberta notice the former Parti Quebecois member, separatist Michel Rivard, being named to the Senate by Prime MinisterSteven Harper? Mr. Harper also sent defeated 2008 Conservative candidate Fabian Manning to the Upper Chamber.

I may be mistaken but isn’t it Steven who warns us about separatists being sent to the Senate by the coalition formed by the other three parties, and wants elected Senators?

Wasn’t it Governor General, Ms. Jean, who prorogued the House of Commons session due to the Conservatives failure to maintain the confidence of the Members of Parliament?

Ms. Jean owes Canada protection from these thieves of democracy.
