Book Sale at the Gaetz United Church Hall (4758 Ross St). runs Sept. 6 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Raise pledges and help support the ‘Give the Gift of Life’ Fun Run & Walk Sept. 7th at McKenzie Trails in Red Deer. No experience is necessary, just lace up your sneakers and join in the fun. All pledges raised at this event go the Kidney Foundation of Canada in support of raising awareness for organ and tissue donation and to help all families affected with kidney disease. Old-time dances run at the Red Deer Legion every Wednesday evening. Smorg at 5 p.m. with dance at 7:30 p.m. Cover charge $6. Country music also runs Friday and Saturday evenings 7 to 11 p.m. 342-0035.

Break-a-Leg Theatre runs Sept. 6 from 2 to 3 p.m. in the downtown branch of the Red Deer Public Library. Explore theatre and make believe with drama games, activities and excitement. No experience necessary. Ages seven and up. No registration required.

The 17th annual Red Deer Runner’s Harvest Run is Sept. 7 at 9 a.m. there is an 8 km run, a 3 km run/walk – all ages and abilities are welcome. Registrations at Runner’s Den (#6, 5511 Gaetz Ave.) 341-4446.

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Awareness Day runs Sept. 9 at Little Chief Park from 9 a.m. to noon. Deputy Mayor Larry Pimm will make the proclamation at 9:09 a.m. A pancake breakfast follows at 9:30 a.m. A sharing circle runs at 10:30 a.m. with the Spirit Seeker dancers at 11 a.m. and a nine block walk from 11:30 a.m. to noon.

The Schizophrenia Society of Alberta, Red Deer and Area Chapter is pleased to announce the fall kick off to Strengthening Families Together Sept. 6 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This information day is open to all families of persons living with schizophrenia.
