BEST OF RED DEER - READERS' CHOICE AWARDS 2008 More:  28

Harbour Spas moving to a new, bigger location soon

06/18/08

Harbour Spas Home and Leisure, formerly known as Beachcomber Hot Tubs, has the best spas in town.

Harbour Spas has won first place in the Best Hot Tub/Spa Retail category for the Express’ Best of Red Deer Awards.

“We work very, very hard to please our customers,” said Jim Roth, owner of Harbour Spas. “We have fully stocked service trucks so we put a whole bunch of effort into making sure that we’ve got the product to sell but everything we sell we make sure to back it up.”

Roth said he has his staff to thank for the award.

“Without the support of the staff we couldn’t have done this,” he said.

Roth has been involved with another business previous to taking over Beachcomber Hot Tubs in 2004.

In 2006 Roth opened up a location of Beachcomber Hot Tubs in north Calgary.

This past May, a second location in south Calgary was opened up under the company’s new name, Harbour Spas.

Roth said the name of the business was changed recently to allow for an expanded line of product.

“Beachcomber Hot Tubs was a franchise type of business so we were limited as to what we could carry,” he said. “Now the sky is the limit. We have more variety in product and a better selection for customers.”

Harbour Spas carries two main lines of hot tubs which includes Cal Spas and Free Flow Spas.

“The Cal Spas are known for quality products,” said Roth. “We are exclusive dealers of their products in Alberta.”

In addition to hot tubs, Harbour Spas offers saunas, gazebos, barbecues and island barbecues and patio furniture including sling and wicker products, among others.

Harbour Spas has full in house financing for its spa products.

In addition, Harbour Spas is also moving to a new location come September.

They will be located at the current site of The Brick on the city’s north end.

“It will be 30,000 square feet,” said Roth. “In our location right now we’re really busting at the seams, so it’s going to be great to have that extra space.”

Harbour Spas also plans to expand their staff of eight to up to 20 once they move into their new location.

Roth added he enjoys doing business in Red Deer.

“Red Deer is a great place to live and work,” he said. “Our customers that come in are really our friends and I think that’s important.”

Harbour Spas is currently located at 4930-53 Ave.

They are open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
