‘This is not necessary’
12/17/08
Is it a belief among Conservatives that the general population is deaf in their left ear?
The reason I ask is because it seems every right leaning individual that wants to talk to me these days is yelling, and I haven’t figured out the reason for the cursing and the spitting.
It got so bad that for a few days my wife would tense up when the doorbell or phone would ring.
I was once a Green Party Candidate during an election, so I have actually campaigned against every party but it is often only the right wing supporters that tend to raise their voice and talk at you leaving you with few opportunities to respond or participate in the conversation.
This last outburst occurred when the Conservatives representing one third of Canadians looked like they were going to lose their grip on power when the opposition parties representing two-thirds of Canadians decided to co-operate in a Coalition rather than force an expensive and unnecessary election.
The Tory propaganda machine sent out instructions and talking points to its members on how to garner public support, discredit the opposition, organize rallies, and phone your MP etc.
The talking points contained incomplete phrases, omissions and misinformation which of course benefitted the Conservatives.
With limited ammunition the Tory soldiers cannot withstand a protracted or even a short, deep conversation so they attack with loud repeated barrages then spit, just walk away or hang up.
I will say that I did have two conversations with Conservatives who did seem interested in hearing my version in a real conversation, but that constituted a very small percentage.
I just thought I could dispel this myth so Conservatives would know that people are not deaf in their left ear and can hear you without you needing to yell and the cursing and spitting are not adjectives and adverbs but are actually detriments to your cause.
